Working With Indigo: The Art of Japanese Shibori Dyeing

Learn Japanese Shibori folding techniques to design a Shibori scarf using a real indigo dye bath.
Indigo is a natural dye that changed the world. In this workshop, you will learn the care and feeding of an indigo vat, and you will use traditional Japanese Shibori folding techniques to create your own cotton Shibori scarf. It is so much fun to see the colors develop from deep green to the familiar classic blues. This class is excellent for the beginner or experienced dyer.

Materials Fee: $15 To be collected at the class .
Materials provided: One all cotton hemmed scarf ready for dyeing, a prepared shibori dye vat, all equipment needed to do the shibori patterns.
Students Should Bring: Clothing suitable for dyeing. Indigo can be very messy. Indigo stains!

About the Instructor:
Ginger’s deep dive into the world of fiber arts began at age 20 and has continued for almost 40 years as a teacher, artist, and historian of textile and fiber arts of all types and from many cultures. Her passion is teaching, which is where you will usually find her when she is not in her studio creating.
