About Us

Who we are

Wild Ginger Living launched in 2024. Like all stories and most businesses, “in the beginning” is actually somewhere in the middle of the larger story. Our before “in the beginning” looks like this.

Ginger, known locally as Wild Ginger (that’s a story for another time), brings a lifetime of experience in gardening and farming that works in cooperation with the land. Her early teachers were her parents grandparents who passed on the knowledge, wisdom, and lore of their Native American ancestry. She has extensively studied how naturally occurring textiles have been used throughout history and expresses this knowledge in her artwork. Her knowledge and experience have been the impetus and guiding hand for the realization of Wild Ginger Living.

Scott is a relative latecomer to sustainable living and gardening. His grandmother kept a small bed next to her garage where she raised tomatoes and one or two other things. As a dutiful and loving grandson he helped with weeding and harvesting as needed. Scott brings a latent but emerging love for the land and wooded spaces and the simple joy of being outside in contact with the earth, sky, and sea. He is a writer and storyteller.

In 2019, Scott bought a 1/4 acre property in Olivesburg, Ohio, intending to turn it into something but not really sure what. In 2022 Scott and Ginger met. In a way, knowledge married resources, and the next chapter that would become Wild Ginger Living began. We are now on chapter eight or nine or ten and the rest of this story is beginning.

Our values

We believe that getting back to nature means more than going for a walk in the woods or a weekend camping trip. It is a lifestyle. We believe that life should be lived simply and in harmony and cooperation with nature. We practice taking no more than we need, using all that we take, minimizing harm, observing nature and learning from it, expressing gratitude, sharing, and giving back.

Living simply and well is more about the positive things we do rather than the negative things we avoid. To live a sustainable lifestyle and to do our part to make sure that those who come after us have a planet worth living on means that there must be negative behaviors that we avoid in the spheres where we have influence. Everything we do is as close to “all natural” as we can get, and we are always looking for ways to go deeper. We talk about all these things on our blog.

Our mission

Our mission is simple. We want to help others who are interested in embracing a simpler lifestyle that depends less on corporations and systems that are not in our best interest. We do this through the educational content on this blog, our YouTube channel, and at live classes and events.

We believe that creativity and creative expression are not just extras in life but that they are essential to our health, well-being, and in fostering meaningful connection. We are also about the expression and promotion of arts and creativity as a fundamental way of life.

Our products

We read the product labels of many of the things available for public consumption and scratch our heads. Ginger, who worked as a chemist for many years, knows what many of the additives, preservatives, and “ingredients” are. Even much of the fresh fruits and vegetables are coated to keep that fresh look. Tell us you haven’t bitten into what looked like a fresh apple to find it already starting to rot in the core.

Our product labels are simple and easy to read. You won’t need to look up the ingredients to find out what they are. Every ingredient in our products are from natural products. That includes the coloring and scents. We only use good soil, fresh air, sunshine, and water for our garden produce. There are no artificial pesticides or fertilizers.

We believe that natural products and a natural, simple life feel better.
